Raymund Ribay Gutierrez was born in 1992 in Makati City, Manila, Philippines. He is the first Filipino director and screenwriter to compete for the Palme d’Or twice in the short film category at the Festival de Cannes with Imago (2016) and Judgement (2018). His feature debut, Verdict, had its world premiere at the 76^th Venice Film Festival, winning the HFPA award and the Special Orizzonti Jury Prize 2019.
